The story of Rowan Brown Electrical began in 1949, when Rowan’s father, Doug Brown, established Keenan & Brown Electrical Contractors and Repair Specialists in Havelock North. Working from a local shop, the business provided electrical installations and repairs to homes and businesses throughout the area.

Rowan joined his father in the business in 1974, beginning what would become a lifelong career in the electrical trade. After spending three years living and working in Sydney, he returned home to Hawke’s Bay and later took over the family business.

The business has continued to grow over the years. Ben joined Rowan as an apprentice in 2004 and remains part of the team today. Rowan’s son Spencer followed in 2011, also starting his career with the business as an apprentice. More recently, Max joined the team as an apprentice in 2022.

Today, Rowan Brown Electrical remains a small, locally owned and operated business, with decades of experience behind it and a team that has largely learned the trade within the business itself. We provide residential and commercial electrical services across Hawke’s Bay, from everyday repairs and maintenance through to new builds, renovations, solar and EV charging.
